The Robert Gallo Maternal Aids Healthcare Initiatives is a leading non-profit organization working to improve the health care of 2.5 million mothers infected with HIV in Lesotho, Mozambique, Tanzania, Zambia, Brazil, Guatemala, India and Sri Lanka. Working together with national partners to strengthen health systems and community capacities, we are committed to scientific evidence and policy dialogue both as foundations and objectives of our workA Regional Program Manager shall oversees the implementation and execution our programs within a designated geographic region, ensuring successful delivery of services, managing local teams, building stakeholder relationships, and monitoring program effectiveness to achieve regional goals, often reporting to a national or global program director.
Key responsibilities
- Work with GMAHI International in the region and the RD team to review and implement funding strategies to meet agreed funding objectives and targets.
- Regional leadership in the development and implementation of GMAHI policies, systems and tools in fund raising and grants management
- Ensure countries and the Regional Center develop resource development strategies which are regularly reviewed, updated and implemented
- Effective coordination of staff in GMAHI departments and network partners towards effective fundraising and grants management.
- Conduct research and analysis of donors in the region so as to increase understanding of the donor environment in Africa as well as long-term perspectives and preferences.
- Map and identify Network Members - in consultation with the Head of Network Coordination & Development – who could complement GMAHI work in any funding opportunity.
Skill & Experience
- Past experience working in a similar capacity at a regional level
- Extremely strong communication, negotiation and representational skills and ability to work at a regional level
- Superior information analysis skills
- Knowledge of key funding issues and donor priorities in the region
- Significant experience in fundraising in a competitive environment and niche issue
- Experience of leading donor engagement and consortium building
- Ability to work with a team of technical leaders working on priority themes of health & care and Social protection
- Good understanding of project design, project cycle management log frame development.
- Demonstrable experience and knowledge of major bilateral donors, Trusts & Foundations and a wide range of charities.
- Skills to train and support partners in developing resource mobilization strategy and the techniques of fund raising.
- Proven track record in contract management and donor servicing
- Strong numeracy skills, with understanding of budgets and spreadsheet

Education Qualifications
- Bachelor degree and professional qualification in a relevant subject (development studies, social sciences, engineering)
- Fluent spoken, read and written English
- Minimum 2 years’ experience of working at a senior management level in International development sector.
- Track record of project and programme management with significant financial and budget management responsibility
- Track record of managing and leading dispersed teams
